Sometimes families do not want to burden loved ones with the responsibility of administering a Trust or Estate. As you can tell from our free guide, being a trustee is not necessarily easy. Notices to beneficiaries, accountings, and other issues must be addressed.
While your loved one may not mind the burden, you may want a more objective person to administer your Trust. Using a non-family member in this role helps keep the peace. We are objective yet approachable, so your loved ones will feel heard but understand the parameters that everyone must observe.
Alternatively, you may come from a very small circle of family and friends and may not have someone that you can trust with the responsibility. Lawyers and those employed by them are bound by rules of confidentiality, and lawyers are fiduciaries.
Corporate fiduciaries generally have a floor that estates must exceed before acting as a fiduciary for a Trust or Estate makes sense for them and rarely act as Agents under financial powers of attorney. Our floor is much lower and we have the experience, knowledge, and skill to administer Trusts, or Estates as a Trustee, Executor, or Agent under a financial power of attorney.
